Happy 20th Birthday!
"The reason I respect her so much (Aliya Mustafina) is because I still can’t work out how she does what she does. In principle, we all train at the same level. She doesn’t stand out from the rest of us that much during training. We all work equally hard, we all try equally hard but when she steps out into the arena during a competition she becomes a goddess." - Ksenia Afanasyeva

This post probably won’t be so interesting but as I saw this picture, I remember Aliya from last year. She always does that. She sits down and looks at the bars, whoever is on there. She was always one rotation behind me so when I was finishing bars, she was about to start, so she was just sitting there, putting her grips on and looking. I had mixed feelings about it because I wished I could have asked what is she thinking, if it’s bad or good or whatever.
She also did that with Noémi I remember, she used to sit there and didn’t take her eyes off of her while she was doing her routine.
So my point is, if that is even a point, is that she does like to look around and just see what’s happening.

Okay, so you’re probably going, “Is this like a Noxzema commercial or what?” But seriously, I actually have a way normal life for a teenage girl.

Learn to love solitude, to be more alone with yourselves. The tragedy of today’s young people is that they try to unite on the basis of carrying out noisy and aggressive actions so as not to feel lonely, and this is a sad thing. The individual must learn from childhood to be on his own, for this doesn’t mean to be lonely: it means to not get bored with oneself, because a person who finds himself bored when he is alone, it seems to me, is a person in danger.
